Shopify POS Integration

Use Subscribfy features at your retail locations with Shopify POS

Subscribfy integrates with Shopify Point of Sale (POS), allowing you to recognize customers, apply store credits, and track in-store purchases.

Setup

Enable the POS Extension

Go to Subscribfy > Settings > Wallet Pass and ensure the Wallet Pass feature is enabled. The POS extension uses wallet passes to identify customers.

Deploy to POS

In your Shopify Admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels > POS. Make sure the Subscribfy app is enabled for your POS locations.

Train Your Staff

Staff should know how to use the Wallet tile on the POS home screen to scan customer wallet passes.


Using the Wallet Tile

The Wallet tile appears on your POS home screen. It shows the current store credits applied to the cart.

Scanning a Wallet Pass

  1. Tap the Wallet tile on the POS home screen
  2. The camera scanner opens automatically
  3. Ask the customer to show their wallet pass (Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or the pass image)
  4. Scan the QR code on the pass
  5. The customer is identified and a "Welcome back" message appears

If the customer is already logged in to their account on POS, the extension will automatically recognize them without needing to scan.

Applying Store Credits

After scanning the wallet pass:

  1. The customer's available store credits are displayed
  2. Enter the amount to apply (or tap Maximum to use all available credits)
  3. Tap Apply to add the discount to the cart
  4. Complete the sale as normal

The Wallet tile shows the applied store credits amount in real-time.


How It Works

When a customer's wallet pass is scanned at POS:

  1. Lookup - The system finds the customer by their wallet pass ID
  2. Login - The customer is associated with the current POS cart
  3. Credits Check - Available store credits are retrieved
  4. Apply Discount - Staff can apply credits as a cart discount

The order is automatically tagged with:

  • _subscribfy_sales_channel: pos - Identifies this as a POS sale
  • _subscribfy_wallet_scanned: 1 - Indicates wallet was scanned
  • Store credits properties if credits were applied

Requirements

  • Shopify POS Pro - Required for app extensions
  • Wallet Pass Feature - Must be enabled in Subscribfy
  • iOS POS App - The extension works on iOS devices only

The POS extension requires Shopify POS Pro. It will not appear on Shopify POS Lite.


Troubleshooting

Wallet tile not showing

  • Verify the Subscribfy app is enabled for your POS location
  • Check that Wallet Pass is enabled in Subscribfy settings
  • Restart the POS app after enabling

Scanner not recognizing passes

  • Ensure good lighting for the camera
  • Check that the wallet pass QR code is not damaged or obscured
  • Verify the customer has a valid wallet pass in the system

Store credits not applying

  • Check that the customer has available store credits balance
  • The store credits amount cannot exceed the cart subtotal
  • Ensure the cart has products (cannot apply credits to an empty cart)
